Afrobeats star Davido has been widely applauded for setting a positive example for young people across Africa and the world by marrying his long-time love, Chioma.
In what many are calling an inspiring love story, Davido and Chioma rekindled their romance with a lavish traditional wedding in Nigeria in June this year, followed by a stunning white wedding in Miami.
Zimbabwe Youths Advocacy Trust Director Melissa Guri said Zimbabwean celebrities should emulate what Davido has done.
“Davido is not only a celebrated figure in Africa but across the globe. By honouring his wife and in-laws with a beautiful white wedding, he has set a powerful example for African youth. As a trendsetter, he is showing young people that it is not only admirable but also fashionable to marry your partner the right way.
“This is something I feel our own local celebrities should do; if they set such good examples, it goes a long way in shaping the future of the youths because the influence that celebrities have is something that cannot be ignored,” she said.
Meanwhile, the couple held their lavish white wedding ceremony in Miami on Sunday. The event was a magnificent affair to remember, bringing together A-list celebrities, including chart-topping artists, corporate titans, and political heavyweights.

There were several well-known faces at the event. Among the distinguished guests were former Senate President Bukola Saraki, Davido’s uncle; Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State; and billionaire industrialist Aliko Dangote.
The star-studded roster was augmented by music talents Zlatan Ibile, Adekunle Gold, and Teniola Apata, as well as nightlife mogul Obi Cubana and talent manager Ubi Franklin.
Davido’s heartfelt vows were the ceremony’s high point. “I’ve been on a lot of stages, Chioma, but this is the most anxious I’ve ever been,” he admitted. “You are my home, my affection, and my tranquillity. Dressed in dazzling white, the pair formally marked their union by exchanging vows and receiving blessings from clerics. After a grandiose traditional wedding in Lagos in June 2024 and a court wedding in March 2023, this was the couple’s third ceremony.
When Davido performed live and pulled his new bride, Chioma, onto the dance floor in a charming moment that delighted guests, post-ceremony magic sprang forth.
